Why most people don't finish video games

I'll start a game but when I go to the mall and look through all the new games I forget what I was playing and buy the new one! I blame on their very purdy covers :o!

I normally finish a game, has to be absolutely rubbish for me not to. But with that said, so what if people don't finish games? Why does it matter as long as they enjoyed the part they played.

This usually happens when a few good games are released in a very short period that one is interested in playing. One then tends to jump from one game to the next to satisfy your curiosity, and at the end of the day possibly not completing them all.

Unless a game can really capture my attention then i will finish it other wise i get over them quite quickly

I'm one of the people who finish games. It has to be a pretty mediocre game before I would decide to give it up and not finish it. Its like reading a book. What's the point of starting to read it if you aren't going to finish it, unless its just bad. I mean, why wouldn't you want to see how a story pans out after investing your time and sometime emotions into the characters (not even to mention your money)? I guess it does happen when people just don't connect with a game in any way or form.

tell me, do the same people not read a long book or watch a long movie, because the allotted time has expired. This is ridiculous, i prefer the long games, i can get more involved, i think this study is skewed

I'll always finish a game if I can. If for instance the final battle is ridiculously difficult, then I won't waste hours trying to do it. But I really don't like the trend towards ridiculously short games. Nor do I like this idea of trying to sell me one add-on after another.

I will finish a game if the story grips me and I want to see how it ends even if the game is bad. If I like the story I enjoy it much more. For this reason I found the Saboteur to be brilliant. It was a flawed game but the story and characters were so good. Rockstar are the masters at combining great gameplay with great stories too.

So many games to play, books to read, series; movies and anime to watch, why waste your time watching/reading/playing something you are not enjoying it at least 70%? if I still have to force myself to read/play/watch something half to a quarter way through then I give up on it, so many better things ;)
but thats just my Opinion :)

Life's too short to finish a shitty game :D

I ussaully finish most games i start to play some just takes longer and one need to be in the mood for it.

Well i don't buy games i don't finish 90% of the time , i have bought games once or twice that i haven't even played :(

I always finish my games.. Maybe not all the side missions and stuff but I always finish the storyline and then later down the line I go for the achievements...:)
