Why we play with inverted controls

Finally, a simple explanation for those who just can't seem to understand us 'airplane control' gamers.
 
Nice one Dan/RustPuppet. I for one can't understand how people can play with controls that aren't inverted.

When I start up a game for the first time, it's something that I have to go change in the settings before I can start playing.
 
Why not just invert the Image on your screen ?
lol, sorry guys had to, I can't play with Inverted anything on any type of game

I guess it's just the way u were taught to play while growing up...:)
 
I used to play inverted controls when I started gaming, and tried to switch to up-is-up type controls... Sometimes when I play, I still revert to inverted controls and fail miserably...
 
I just play with the default controls for 99% of console games. Don't bother inverting them. Some games do invert the controls by default.. but I just roll with it, get used to it in about 10min of play and it's all goood.
 
I think Inverted Players are getting a bad rep though, You guys are like the Gingers of the Gaming Fraternity, we all know you are people, but we don't really understand how you can live with yourselves playing inverted though :P
 
If it works for you then more power to you.

The only time inverted works for me is when its 3rd person view airplanes (GTA SA)....because it makes sense w/ the rudder flaps. Then left right needs to be inverted too though....I don't deal with inconsistent control/physics paradigms.

Frankly its all cool as long as one can actually change it..
 
Yep, due to early days of playing flight sims I play inverted too. down is up - crazy logic but my mind is messed anyways!
 
I can only play inverted, playing normal does not make any sense to me. Great pic though I might hijack it for future reference :)
 
wow...inverted controls are extremely confusing for me, no offense to any gamers that use inverted controls but I just can't bear it, everything I do in-game just feels so out of place when I play inverted - thus i switch back to normal :P
