Will you be interested? South African Gaming Servers

I have had this idea for some time now and was wondering if anyone would be interested joining..

My idea is the following, like some already know i love hosting and setup and manage servers and i am currently hosting a Starbound server and planning to get a Rust server online soon as well.

Now each time i do this i need to go and make a new website/forums for it which takes time, so instead doing that i was thinking about just creating one forum where we will discuss about what South African Game Servers are needed by the community and have section for each one where we can discuss about the server we play on with the details to connect etc..

There will be a Teamspeak server as well and then the Forums where we will discuss about new games and servers we can launch and play together.

The plan is to have a GamingNetwork regarding what we play and then host a server where we can enjoy it together with.

And then if new games release etc and we get alot of request by the community we will try get that gaming server to be hosted.

Let me know what you think about this idea and if anyone would be interested, instead of several websites what-ever game i host there will just be one forum with everything on.

Future plan is also to expand this project and resell Gaming Servers on a monthly rental system such as most GSP do for clans etc..

I'll support this without a doubt. Getting everyone away from the gMz TS might be hassle though.

If you don't mind me asking, how/where are you getting the hardware for this?

I have a dedicated server sitting at Hetzner in Cape Town datacenter :) And it's a hobby of mine to host and manange game servers, also my real life job includes looking after clients servers and manage them.

YES! I want a Minecraft server!

Want a minecraft server to play on or to rent one in South Africa?

I'll speak with the SPOR guys, they've been wanting an ARMA 3 server to run mods on for months now.

I don't really see why you have to create a forum for each game,we already have MyG to discuss games.Servers and such can also be discussed here.

Thats not really smart tbh, as i would like to have discussions about my servers i host on my forums and not search who is talking about my servers each time on MyGaming.

I would then consider talking to MyGaming about a "sub Forum" Because here is the ideal place to discuss the servers as you already have most of the players attention...

Nice idea - perhaps we could create a section on MyGaming for local gaming server info?

Really depends how much is going on.

One thing I know from experience; getting a forum community active and involved is a big task (it's kinda my full time job), and it's pretty much an aside to whatever else you do. You'll be competing for attention from a few other large local forums.

Consider the existing GSPs that have big titles to promote their forums and services - WAGE, iGame, MWEB, etc,. - and consider how much activity goes on on those forums, and what other elements they provide to develop a community.

It seems to me that you need a forum community that does a lot of other stuff, and not just plays the odd game together.

Yes, I'm biased, but I think MyGaming is a good starting point for this sort of thing because we already have the means to draw in large crowds of gamers. It might prove mutually beneficial :)

That do sound like a good idea James, perhaps a section for local gaming server info would be awesome! then most people who have servers going for diffrent games, it won't get lost so quick from all the PC Gaming or General Gaming sections.

My servers are pretty active, forums not tbh, people would rather play the game than post, or talk on Teamspeak instead.

My Teamspeak server floats with around 40 - 60 players online at peaks.

I'll definitely support something like this, especially if it has some sort of tie-in to MyGaming.

There lies your problem, why not just go with a twitter/facebook page where people can discuss server related topics. You can probably also link to them via a server welcome message. That or go with James idea.

You're making too much work for yourself and people rarely join forums that are only about a few servers (unless you have something big going like IGame)

I wouldn't use iGame as an example, their forums have been practically dead for a while know, with only the occasional twitch. :p
