Entry : Guacamelee

This 2d platformer doesn't need any heart-warming or gut-wrenching paragraph to illustrate its magnificence. I will keep this short as not to overload your senses with the awesomeness that is Guacamelee. Nostalgia? Check! Mexicans? Check! Luchadores? Check! Chicken shape-shifting powers? Check! Power uppercuts? Check! Flying? Check! Presidents daughter in need of rescue? Check! King of the underworld as your mortal enemy? Check! Interdimensional travel? Check. Half man/Half jaguar boss fight? Check!

The checks have it. Go go fighting Mexican/Luchadore/chicken/interdimensional being!

Sleeping Dog(e)s

Been jamming this for the last few weeks and loving a different spin on the open world action games, particularly the combat system. Instead of simple button mashing we have a more strategic take on hand to hand combat which makes that aspect of the game far more enjoyable. It's also refreshing to have a restriction on the availability of guns which makes things a little more interesting. The storyline is also pretty novel and I can actually feel sympathetic to Wei, who is actually a good guy. Makes a nice change from the usual gangsters from the GTA realms. All in all a fantastic addition to the open world genre. Hopefully it will get a sequel to improve on itself (and maybe even GTA V!).

Entry: Everybody's Golf (PS Vita)

Recently on sale for an irresistible amount, I finally snapped and bought this Vita launch title. Now, I am hooked. I can't stop playing, something I never thought I'd say about a golf game. The courses are challenging enough to stay interesting, and the progression structure is perfectly tuned to keep you hooked as you play another 18 holes to unlock a new character or outfit for your favourite. And let's not get into how much time I've spent playing dress up with my character... Everybody's Golf on Vita is my game of the moment.

PS, the feeling you get when you sink your first hole in one is astounding. My jaw literally dropped and I watched the reply (handily recorded automatically so you can relive it again and again) about three times before I moved on with a greater confidence than before.

Saints row: The third

Saint Row: The Thirsd

Done in the voice of Jeremy Clarkson:
It has veins and the physics that rival the real thing.
Over 2 million people have been touched by it.
Some call it the Dildo Bat but we call it the PENETRATOR

IMO the best moment of any game so far is when you get to first use and second use and third use the PENETRATOR , you get this warm tingly feeling like you touched somebodies life plus its funny as hell.

Saints Row 3 is one of those games that I will actually go back to and play just to smack someone with the PENETRATOR

Entry : Crysis 3 (PC, multiplayer)

There I was having finished a beautiful (albeit short) campaign. So why not start on my first multiplayer FPS then? I could do with a quick action fix. Quick? LOL. I was about to be submerged into the ruthless, brutal and satisfying death arena that is Crysis 3.

Well I died at first. A lot. More than I would like to admit. Shot in the back, shot before firing. They lied in ambush for me. They sniped me from the highest buildings. I was convinced that everyone had woken up today and thought "Hey, let's kill that noob". The frustration built up in me. Why kill ME??? My teammate was right next to me! Why ME? GAAA!

I was ready to rage quit. But then it happened. An unsuspecting enemy, standing still, I aimed down my sights. I fired. I fired like there was no tomorrow. I fired like my entire self-worth depended on it. And there it stood in yellow letters at the top of the screen: "Enemy killed". Enemy KILLED! By me! It was accompanied by the most satisfying of thuds. I stood and stared in shock. Then the rush came, it filled me, consumed me. My first kill! YES! YEEES!

But now that I had a taste, I needed more, MOARR!!. I joined the next game. And the next. Tried some classic game mode( without suits). Enjoyed it even more. Late, late nights ensued. I was unlocking weapon upon weapon, all feeling distinct from each other. I wanted to try them all! I played with every attachment and every loadout, quickly finding my favourite.

Soon I was running across rooftops, wielding a shotgun, jumping down to empty some shells in an enemies back. I was invisible, aiming at heads, watching my enemies drop. I was a monster, wielding a machine gun spraying hundreds of bullets towards enemies ducking for cover. I was alive.

I had said that I would never really enjoy an FPS, but when I looked up one day after all those long nights, my sleep deprived eyes saw a strange number next to my username. 50. The maximum level. So was this it? No more progression right? Was this the end?

That thought only lasted as long as the loading screen. I laughed and waited for the countdown to begin.

Entry: Rift (PC, MMO)

I was home alone last Saturday feeling very sorry for myself, moping about alone in my bedroom in the blazing heat because my boyfriend was out with family :( Not knowing what to do with myself, I decided to put our new 10MB business line through its paces and download all of the MMO's I've been wanting to try for ages, but never got around to testing.

Long story short, Rift was my first download. Within 10 minutes I was up and running thanks to the progressive download. Much to my surprise, it was pretty much World of Warcraft in a different, modern skin - with people actually playing on my server! Since then I've been quite hooked running around Telara pew pew-ing things :) I'm in love with the spell effects (these aren't done well in very many games) and new, yet familiar world!
