I have Bioshock and Dark Messiah which dont work on Win7 can anyone recommend a solution with minimal hacking?

Virtual machines maybe? I have zero experience with trying to play PC backlogs and I bought these 2 games basically the day I got my new Win7 PC and soon gave up trying to sort the problem out. Now all this talk of the new Bioshock has got me keen to play the first one. I hate jumping into the middle or end of a series, really preffer playing them in order.

1st thing's 1st, have you tried setting the compatibility of said games to Win Xp?

I don't know if this will make a difference to you, but the new Bioshock isn't a sequel to the old ones, it's "spiritual successor" and so you don't have to play the first two to know what's going on. That being said, you should still play the first one 'cause it's brilliant :D

Had similar issues with Far Cry 2. I tried everything and failed miserably. But hopefully you'll find the settings to make it work.

ok well waddaya know! freakin Bioshock does work in 7. Flip! Last I tried it kept kicking up an error of some sort.
Will try Dark Messiah over the weekend.

thanks guys

Try setting games to window mode(if you can get that far) you will find that most work window but as soon as it goes full screen it crashes.

Agreed, didn't play first or second and then played the third and had no issues. Have just started on the 1st (which work fine on Windows 8 if anyone wanted to know :p)
