I had to do that as well. Will probably do the ISO install tonight if Eskom gives me their blessing...

Speaking about keys. My windows refuses to activate after the upgrade. Will give it some time and try again.

Mine did not do or ask for any activation after upgrading. It's still showing "Activated", maybe a glitch or something

Mine also said activated and didn't have to do anything after the upgrade.

So guys what happens when you have to format do you have to install your windows 7 first then do the upgrade route.

That gave my windows 8 key and Windows 10 key so got both now

You can also reinstall without a key after your free upgrade and simply activate online. Your PC is identified with hardware IDs and reactivated.
