Windows 10 launches most intrusive pop-up yet

Has anyone made the jump from 7 to 10?

Curious to hear what you think and such.

I have and I HIGHLY recommend everyone does it. Windows 10 is fantastic. If you can get a free copy why wouldn't you go for it? I haven't had a single driver error, or issue with the OS. And it looks fantastic. And the stupid "tile" thing from 8 is gone. Unless you liked it then you can turn it on...

I would at work but most of my software is to old to use with 10

That i find incredible :wtf: What software? I am yet to find something that doesn't work perfectly...

I did have a problem with Freedom Force and Fahrenheit...old...yes :-) There was something else....Road Rash (got that working with effort) Also one or two productivity stuff. There was something else...Oh yeah LOTR: Return of the king - Found a workaround for that too. It has to do with some security step-up and you need to disable it first.
Then TOCA Race Driver - accidentally agreed to the installation of the starforce protection drivers...had to redo the computer - wouldn't reboot or restore. Should have just manually removed the drivers from its location - would have saved a lot of hassle.

Still - Windows 10 all the way. It really rocks.

I made the jump this past weekend from Win8.1 to Win10.

Was very hesitant because my PC is about 6 years old and my mobo did not even have official drivers for Win8. Took a lot of Googling for drivers to get 8.1 working perfectly. Upgrade went without a hitch and everything still works with the out-of-the-box/existing drivers.

Im not allowed to upgrade due to DrPro - old as in older than 2002
and my Pastel is also not compatible with 10 - the guys from Pastel mailed us to warn that there are known bugs and we cant upgrade to 10. But keep in mind I am still on 7

So my home PC has been running Win 10 since it became available, my work laptop and the primary machine I use for work is now on Windows 10 since friday. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone unless you have a compelling reason not to upgrade. My biggest hesitation for my work machine was the number of "specialized" (aka stupid shit that was written in Java) that I need to use on a daily basis.

Don't really know anything about DrPro however, we run Pastel on all our windows 10 machines. What version do you have?

Xpress vs14

I unfortunately cant upgrade without DrPro - its a programme we use to issue our plans with and the boss wont upgrade it ever

You should tell him the money he will save in windows upgrades will far out weigh the cost of an upgraded issue program...

Upgraded aswell, no problems sofar, only weird thing is that it removed my microsoft esentials anti virus program, not really a problem since windows defender looks and works exactly the same.

Denfnitly no reason not to take the free upgrade. And it might just be my imagination, but it seems like my ingame loading times have gotten better with win 10.

On a related note, is there any reason for me to use another anti-virus program, or will defender work fine?

Bwahahahahaha sorry

it took him 8 years to upgrade from Pastel vs6 to 14.... He doesnt upgrade or spend money unless it breaks. Unfortunately DrPro works well in win 7 - even though it really shouldnt
But I know I am pushing my luck to make it work in anything higher

Plenty of industries out there that's like that Doctors, Hospitals and the legal profession would all still run Windows 3.11 if they could.

If they could? My wife's hospital runs it's HR system on a VM with DOS. I don't even want to know what the records dept. looks like.

Till recently had to help with a company still on Win 3.11 and still use thin ethernet. Cannot find any more BNC terminators and network cards - not sure what they will do next.
Avatar - DOS! - now that is hard core. So they have one of those menu's created on screen and each menu option is a batch file opening the desired program? Lol. I did love DOS though.

Haven't seen it with my own eyes, just my wife's horror stories. But I'm guessing it'll be an old school db with a text based "Press F1 for a list of employee's" menu system.
