Windows 7 local pricing

Prophecy and Taketwo have put up their pricing for win 7.

Prophecy only has dsp's up so far. http://www.prophecy.co.za/-c-131_132_358_1087.html

Taketwo claims theirs is full retail. Can someone explain to me how their full retail is the same price as prophecy's dsp?? Surely the dsp is suppose to be cheaper?? I don't want to place an order and then find out their info was totally out and I got a dsp copy instead of full retail.

Then just get the full retail version from Take Two. Its a few bucks more and you'll be certain you have everything.

The problem is how can it be the full retail copy when they are selling it for cheaper than the dsp that prophecy is selling??

Getting the full retail of Windows 7 Ultimate...this is one of the few OS'es that MS has released that's actually worth-while! :)

defos. I only go for full retail, since it doesnt limit your hardware upgrades.
I'm still gonna hold out for the 22 October release. I'd hate to be caught short by getting a DSP when I'm expecting a full retail from Take2.

Cant wait for Win7 - srsly

I'm confused, what is the difference between a dsp and a full retail version?

DSP - Limited number of Activations. Comes with a new PC and if that PC's hardware signature changes, i.e you upgrade something, you have to re-activate. You can see how that could become a problem if you're like me upgrading small things every now and then.

Full Retail = Go nuts. Obviously it's still checked on Activation but it's a LOT less strict and your activation counts are either not limited or you have a lot more as well. You can only have 1 copy activated at a time still obviously.

My 2cents = this is an OS that will last you a while...get the full retail copy and save yourself some trouble.

DSP gets tied to your hardware and restricts how many upgrades you can do before it is considered a new system .

With retail the license is tied to the user and you can upgrade and changes pc as much as you want as long as you only have the os installed on one pc at a time.

Stephan did you contract(email) take2, and find out because it seems those are the dsp version but they did not add it for some reason.

Hmmm...seems to be full retail indeed. It's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.

EDIT: Because I'm a reseller myself I quickly checked the price...and as far as I can see R2200-R2300 seems to be the FULL RETAIL price.

That's confusing me even more now. Taketwo, zaps and kalahari is listing the full retail home premium as R1290 - R1400. Zaps and Prophecy has the dsp for about R1100.

So either they are all wrong or your resellers price is wrong . But something isn't making sense.

I was talking about the Ultimate edition. Not home. I don't look at inferior versions when buying something lmao.

Inferior version how?? Unless you are going to use the advanced networking options or bit defender you won't need ultimate. Why spend more to get features you don't need.

But ultimate retail is listed at R2200 at taketwo, zaps and kalahari.

I've been trying to figure out which version to get... I would hate to get the home version, start using it and then discover that I can't do something unless I have the Ultimate version. That would be massively irritating. What do you guys recommend?

I LOVE features I don't need. It's like having a girlfriend with 3 boobs....2 is great, but it's nice to know you have that one extra for just "in case". :)

Can I refer you to my 3rd boob theory above?

What do you use your pc for?? Do you use it just for gaming and multimedia and a bit of word, excell, browsing, ect then go for home premium. If you need to connect to domains and other work related networking activities then go for ultimate.

I would rather save R700 then pay for features I don't need.
