Windows startup logo freeze.

Hi(btw im writing this on my phone) First my system specs.
CPU: Intel i5 750
Mobo: Intel H55
GPU: PNY GTX 560 Ti
RAM: 8GB DDR3
PSU: Coolermaster 460w
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Ok so I recently(4 days ago) moved to a new house. When I had set up my computer, plugged everything in and pressed the power button all my fans came on, gave half a rotation and then stopped again. Two seconds later same thing happened, this went on until I turned of the wall plug(pressing the power button did nothing). Eventually I fixed it by replacing my old coolermaster 500w psu with a newer cm 460w psu that came from my sisters old pc(who's mobo broke).

After having replaced the power supply, it actually turned on but gave me a beep code, which later turned out to be a memory problem ehich I fixed by taking out my ram cleaning it with an eraser then trying different configurations of placing them until it worked.

Twice during this whole thing I was actually able to enter windows. The first time was before any beep codes happened but after I replaced the PSU. I got into windows fine but at the properties of "my computer" under memory it said 8gb (only 1.93gb usable). The second time was while I was trying different configurations for my ram. And then under "My computer properties it said unavailable to both ram and cpu.

Finally Windows started loading. The four balls appeared, they combined and exploded to form the windows logo and then started pulsing. After a couple of seconds my keyboard lights flash once, I hear my speakers make what sounded like a dull pop sound, there flashes a row of white pixels on screen for less than a second then, the pulsing stops and the windows logo stays there frozen. After a while I hear the windows startup sound but the logo stays. This happens almost everytime I boot. All the other times my monitor simply shows no signal immediatly after the white row of pixels flash(the row of pixels do flash in a different location if the screen everytime) my screen then just goes into standby.

I can enter safe mode and I have rolled my drivers back to 295.73(which I have read that some people say works best for the GTX 560). It didn't work so I reinstalled 314.22.

I have also tried startup repair but it just restarted my pc in the end and my pc started up with the freezing windows logo as I mentioned above.

I have tried "Last known good configuration" but that just started with the "no signal after windows logo". I even typed my password in at the frozen logo/no signal and it worked.

I heard the log in sound but the frozen logo/no signal stayed the same. When I pressed the power button I heard the log out sound and then my pc turned off.

I have tried "low-res" mode, also didn't do anything.

I have tried using msconfig in safe mode to start in a diagnostic mode but this didn't do anything either

...fixed by taking out my ram cleaning it with an eraser...

Who on earth ever told you that was a good idea? :wtf:

Regarding your problem, I can't help you beyond the usual: do a clean install on a separate hard drive to rule out driver issues. If that doesn't resolve it, replace components one-by-one until you find the culprit.

Well I only cleaned the contacts with an eraser and it has many times resolved RAM issues for me and a couple of friends.

But anyway I did install windows 8 on a different hard drive and all of a sudden both OS's worked but only for a while. Ive found that if I leave my computer off for a couple of hours it works fine for the first time I turn it on but that really is a bit of an unpractical solution.

I think the most likely problem is with the graphics card so I am thinking to test it on a friends rig when I have chance but, as I've mentioned, I recently moved and I dont really know anyone where I've moved to. So that might be a while.

Have you checked if you have any issues in the BIOS?
Maybe you can't boot if it is unstable - wild guess.
Try another GPU if that doesn't work check if there is anything on the OS preventing you from logging in, like a virus. Do a boot scan of your computer with something like Avast antivirus. If that doesn't work unplug your HDD and boot from another.

Other thank that I can't help :)
