Have you used a mechanical gaming keyboard before?

The last time I used a mechanical keyboard was many years ago....and it was not a gaming keyboard. That CM Storm looks brilliant!
 
Never used a mechanical Nor a Gaming keyboard before, always used the standard stuff. Keen to give the mechanical switches a go and see if the difference is worth the cost.

Someone should rent mechanical keyboards out.
 
I've never used a gaming mechanical keyboard, but the first kb I used was when mechanical keyboards were still commonplace.

For those saying they don't know what mechanical keyboards are: The difference lies entirely in the little switch underneath each key on your keyboard. On conventional keyboards, there is a tiny rubber film with a piece of conductive metal hanging from it (copper, I think. Might be way off, though..) When you press your key down, it presses this rubber membrane down and completes a circuit telling he keyboard that this key was pressed.

With a mechanical keyboard, this is replaced with a more complex system. You can read a lot here, but to sum it up:

The little metal bits on the left are conductive. As you press down, the circuit is completed, telling the keyboard that a key was pressed. Most of these switches have aural feedback (they go clack when pressed) and has much better feedback through your fingers. Their response also much more consistent, meaning you know beforehand exactly how hard you will have to press to get the key. The feedback you feel is the real selling point of these keyboards.
 
Would like to try a Mechanical keyboard at least once. Never even seen one on display in a store or known anyone who owns one.
 
This keyboard looks cool and I would really like have it! I used to have a Merc Stealth but then my gf poached it so now I'm stuck using either the most HORRID Dell thing at work or using my laptop's keyboard :(

Ooh, ooh, ooh - this is the one that I really want to win - I am so wanting a mechanical keyboard - my Logitech is old and tired now - keys are mushy and sad.
