i think there should be a standard with laptop pads or stands that they act as an usb hub as well. usb3 will be evens better :D

my parents have one for their laptop because it overheats when u start it up without the cooling pad.. its really old..

I would love one for my laptop since mine shuts down when it gets too hot, it has cost me a couple a save files before chooseing to restart just as I'm saving..

Have you tried cleaning the air vent/ fan inside? Just use pressurized air can on it to clean the dust out. That's usually the case for the overheating.

I started out using the stand that only raises the laptop/notebook off the surface but I found that there was still plenty of heat being generated. About a year ago I bought a cheapie from Esquire and it worked so well that I went back and bought a top of the range model instead.

When used to silence (hotel rooms, B&B rooms when away from home) the fans did make a notable noise but it was hardly detectable once I plugged in my headphones.

If you own a laptop/notebook then you should be getting yourself some form of cooling pad!

Would I be right to think that a cooling pad would prolong the life of the laptop or this not a benefit?

My cheap cooling pad I bought long ago works quite well, but have to clean the fan every few months since theres always lots of dust around in my house.

After my Macbook battery swelled and died due to overheating, these babies have become mandatory on all laptops that are on for extended periods of time

I haven't used mine in some time, but that's because my external active USB hub got stolen. Running it off the USB port of the laptop is a bad idea as it will contribute to reducing your battery's life expectancy.

would be great to have one, due to my work I spend a large amount of hours in front of the laptop and putting my system through its paces with High load functions. So this would be ideal... Lets hope I have the luck of the Irish

I would use a laptop cooling pad at a friend's house, but then it broke. That was when I still had a overheating laptop at idle, which managed to melt my USB cable.

I definitely need to get me a laptop cooling pad for my current laptop.

Just recently entered the laptop market, and would love a cooling pad! feel sorry for the poor laptop after a gaming session...and i'm certain one of these would help

Question - is it sturdy enough to sit on? Here in KZN with the humidity I would love to have a fan blowing on my bumcheeks.... ah just chillaxin...

While gaming for extended hours my laptop really heats up to the point that it actually starts burning my hands :P Sure would be nice to have this cooling pad!
