Finally. We have a working activity points calculation system.
In the interest of explaining the basic problem and how it was fixed: there were a few tables from the MyGaming database that didn't correspond correctly to the calculations done by the Activity system. These have been corrected and points will be generated and stored correctly in the points cache going forward. Something similar was also affecting the trophies, and this has been corrected as well.
Due to rebuilding the points cache a number of times during this bug-busting exercise, certain criteria have no points values for the competition. This is because the forum database doesn't store these values (it had no need to) and the activity system was responsible for storing the values. Resetting the points table erased the running total. These are rather inconsequential activities and criteria, such as Friends Confirmed, Thread Ratings Given, and Thread Ratings Received.
For recalculating the mega contest, these have been left off. Going forward, these points will count toward overall forum activity but I will not use them for contests (in fact I'm going to reduce the competition criteria to the main areas of activity - more on that in a future competition post).
The next job for me is reconfiguring all the achievements and awards which we lost during the reset - but more on that later as it's finally time to announce some winners!
