WiruLink

I just moved into a complex that is wifi enabled. In-case this is not a widely know practice a small amount is added to our levies and we get to use the wifi that is available throughout the complex. WiruLink is the vendor that is providing the solution and from my understanding it's one parent account that all 186 units share each with their own username and password. I only connected late last night and haven't really tested the speed yet, but I suspect that when I do it will be less than desirable, especially considering I want to connect my Xbox to this.

So what I would like to do, after examining their packages is get the 20Gig capped package for R399 (R197 more than what I'm paying now with Afrihost for only 4Gigs).

My question to the readers is this: Does anyone have experience with WiruLink and would recommend them? I have been on hellopeter and there are some mixed reviews some of which are making me think twice.

Bare in mind this is a new complex and ADSL is just not an option right now, and that this could be a temporary solution (which is month to month) until something better like fiber comes to my neighborhood.

Good day to you. My name is Milton and I am the Wirulink account manager for Ponders End. You have made some amazing assumptions in your post. It would have been a better option if you had contacted myself directly as per the documentation you were given when you moved into the complex by the Renico representatives. The solution has been designed to ensure that all residents are insured to have an acceptable internet experience. So, please call me at Wirulink head office and let's chat.

By the way, ADSL will not be available for Ponders End residents.

Regards
Milton

Joker@eAe please let us know how this runs, and how your chat with them was.

I see there is a post on mybroadband from 2015 and people were saying the service is good.

The only problem that I have is that I have filled in your 'contact us' page and 'Network Coverage' on your website more than once without a response. Living in an area where I do not have ADSL, fiber or anything, I tried a lot of companies. Your advertising boards are up everywhere from my work to my way home.

Usually I do not bother trying multiple times for someone offering a service to come back to me. Even if my area is not covered - It would have been nice to get some feedback.

I don't know why they can't just have a coverage map like other companies.

Hi Milton,

I am impressed that you scoured the internet and found this post! Job well done.

We have actually had a telephonic conversation prior to my post. You are still getting back to me about the setup cost for the equipment as per our last correspondence on April 18th 2016, where you said you would get back to me in the week.

I do not wish to exclude you as a service provider yet as I am still in a research phase. Yes I had to make some assumptions as I do not know enough about the pricing and how the fair use policy is implemented from a technical stand point.

My experience with the "pre-installed" setup so far has been satisfactory. I have 4 mobile devices connected to it and casual browsing and daily communication has been acceptable in terms of speed and consistency. I have run a few speed tests last week and got pings between 15ms and 50ms, that's okay I guess. Upload speeds for some reason was higher than download speeds at around 2mbps up and just under 1mbps down. Normally that would be an issue but for the nominal fee that I'm paying and for what I'm using it for, I'm happy with that.

But as I said in my post, I would like to get more speed and a better ping (1-5ms) and for that I'm considering the 20Gig cap at (up to) 10Mbs as stated in our correspondence. I was getting a read from this forum what their experiences have been with WiruLink so that I can get some different views and perspectives. This is a free society after all. Like I said there are some mixed reviews on hellopeter and I don't want those negative reviews to unfairly have me discount WiruLink as a potential service provider.

I think I drive that same route :D

Joker@eAe what are you pinging ? that seems really good actually if it's say 8.8.8.8

Thats a Good ping, typical dsl at its best would give you the same to a local server. try a manual ping from command prompt to 8.8.8.8 and see how that looks

I apologies for not coming back to you. Please mail me on [email protected] I will send all necessary costs. When we initially spoke, I was not sure of installation costs etc. That has all been sorted.
