Wise hardware purchases of the now

A chassis is definitely not an investment, and it is a luxury at best. If you have limited funds go for the standard Gigabyte X series.

Bought myself some ram a few months back. Couldn't believe the price drop. Last time I bought was during the RAM shortage a few years back when I built a new PC, this time it cost R300 for 4 GB, back then it was R700 for 2GB.

Hmmm.... If you are going to plumb for a new power suppler for whatever reason, do ensure that it isn't overkill.

Power Supply Calculator
haha, yeah, i know so many dudes who buy ridiculous PSU's for their systems. Way overkill, and lets be honest, it doesn't add to your PC experience really. It just makes them feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Let me give some advice on PSU purchases.

You guys seem to think its all about Wattage when in actual fact its the Amps on the 12v rail that is most important.
That's why using a power supply calculator is useless.

Some psu's offer 750W but a crappy 36amps on the 12v rail and it'll cost you around R800, so compare that to a Corsair TX750 which is a 750W psu, that offers 60 amps on the 12v rail and it'll set you back around R1200.

Also take note a PSU is probably the single most important piece of hardware in a pc. A high quality psu is essential.
