Witcher 3 question for those with PS4 version (and ideally, PC as well)

I currently have (and love) the PC version. I'm not fussed about the whole "downgrade" hullabaloo. i am loving the gameplay and storyline. and i happen to thin the game looks stunning :)

anyways, the only issue i have is that i am not really a fan of sitting in front of PC to game for long periods, then another option exists. I much rather chill on couch in front of big screen TV :)

so my question to those of you who happen to have both versions. Is the PS4 version as good? I heard the text can be rather small and difficult to read.
 
I have both version, but sadly I can't play the PC version so I can't compare. What I can say is that the PS4 version is perfectly good. Sure, it's not 60FPS or anything, but I really don't think you need 60FPS for a third-person open-world game. There are also minor bugs and stuff like clipping issues or Roach getting stuck running into a tree, but these are not major enough to ruin the experience in any way.

I have seen people complain about the small text, but I don't get. I even set my HUD smaller, which makes the text even smaller, and it's perfectly fine for me. I play on a 40" TV and I sit about 2 meters or so away from the TV and I have no issues with reading anything. I literally played the whole day on Tuesday, from 8:00 to about 23:00, with only a 30 minute break for a quick power nap. I played for almost the same amount of time yesterday and I'm about to start with today's full day session as well. So yeah, PS4 version is completely fine for chilling on the couch for extended periods of time.

regarding the FPS issue, i played Bloodborne and found that to be liquid smooth, despite being locked at 30FPS. i think my poor peasant mind can't really tell the difference :(

regarding the small text, i read somewhere that you can press the PS Button and SQUARE and it zooms in. Is this true ?
 
[MENTION=532]Hiro[/MENTION]. Not sure about about the zoom thing. Will test it out when I start playing and get back to you. I'm just thinking: won't the console go back to to home menu when you press the PS button? Anyway, will test it shortly.
 
I have considered going to PS4 as well, just for the purpose of comfortableness (if that's a word) and you bring some valid points. I know about the zoom feature (has to be enabled) and have used it but only in the menus, not sure if this works in games. As this would actually be monumental fuck up for me with my shitty eye sight. There is a kakhuis of reading involved in this.

sitting in front of PC to play Starcraft or Pillars for a few hours is fine, as they are explicitly designed for KB/Mouse use and need that level of fine motor control. but this is the sort of game that just begs to be played on the couch, with a controller, on a big TV.

i need to find someone nearby who is willing to lend me their copy of the game for an evening, in order to see for myself :)
 
I am playing the ps4 version and am really enjoying it.I just use the zoom function to read the text because it is damn small.
 
I played The Witcher 2 on PS3, on a 32" HD ready TV, (which sits on the far side of my bedroom, so I generally struggle to read anything when I play there), but it did have an option to use large fonts, which made everything nice and legible. The only problem was that the text covered one of the dice when playing dice poker, but that's minor.

Odd that they wouldn't have a similar option in #3

That must have taken some doing since The Witcher 2 never came out on PS3. [emoji14]

As for framerates and things it isn't really something I pick up on so can't comment on that, but it plays beautifully and I've had no significant issues whatsoever.

Side note: is it not possible to simply connect your PC to the TV and play using a controller? That's what I do if I'm playing a PC game that demands an "on-the-couch" type experience.

Suppose it is, but pixels on a TV are larger than that on an screen, though both are LED LCD screens. I could be mistaken though. But also I'm not really up for uprooting everything just for that, rather move my lazy boy closer to my PC :D

i thought about this, but distance between PC and couch make this logistically problematic.

Oh I see. Same for me as my PC is in an entirely different room so I physically take the whole box to the lounge [emoji14]. Less painful than paying another R800 for another copy of the game...
 
I must say that the w3 has some awesome characters in it and really nails the feel of being in a forest in bad weather.The only place I have had bad frames is in the bog hopefully they patch it.

I do have old laptops laying around, but playing the game on GOG and not Steam, so that streaming is out. And NVIDIA only streams to "Shield" devices, so that is out.

any ideas how i can stream game to TV via old laptop?
