Woman hospitalised after 40 hour gaming session

sheesh 40 hours is just crazy. My record was 6 hours with oblivion on a rainy day and damn did I have butthurt after that. I had to lie facedown on the floor for a bit to recover. haha

I swear people should be required to have a babysitter if they're this damn stupid. I see a potential business! :D

Gamesitters :P

I simply cannot sit for more than 2-3 hours at a time playing games. My ass hurts - not to mention; hunger and thirst creeps in.

40 hours non-stop. Ah nee ah! Not even if I was paid to do so, would I!

I've done 40+ hours at events and the like.

Even though they were all spent awake, I did not clamp for the 40.
I went for smoke breaks(I pace when I smoke), had some nom and some drink.
Hit the head, that kinda thing.

It's not bad doing prolonged gaming sessions. 10-15 minute breaks every hour makes it fine.

This depends on the individuals themselves. Some can do more, others' less.
All comes down to what the individual's limits are, and by what amount they're exceeding that limit.

Doctors do recommend:
10-15 minute breaks every hour

Yeah - never pushed it beyond 24 hrs...and that was already with a solid 1 hr of watching someone jamming a game & various break consisting of other nonsense.

Even that was kinda pushing it though...had enough at 20 hrs, but being young & idiotic we decided a 24hr lan is in order. :D

12 hrs jamming, 7 hours sleeping, 12 hrs jamming works nice. Split each 12 hrs with a rocking braai for guaranteed win. That you can fit into a weekend, the eyes get a rest & you've still gotten ~24 hrs of fragging. :D

Or to quote Luis Guzman "How is this a bad plan?"

If I get addicted to a game (and if I'm on vacation or something), I can probably do around 20 hours... but then when I go to sleep, I don't wake up. What happens is that I dream that I'm still awake and playing so I don't realize that I'm still asleep and should get up. I don't think that I've had a game that got me completely addicted like that since Mass Effect 1 & 2 though and perhaps Dragon Age / Witcher 2... thus, I haven't done it in quite a while.
