Woman robbed in blind scam

A Johannesburg woman has been robbed by a woman pretending to be blind and two accomplices, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.

The accomplices approached the 25-year-old woman and asked her to help their blind friend cross a road in the Johannesburg CBD on Monday, said Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele.

One of them warned her that the other two were about to rob her and that she should check her belongings.

My mate was mugged while driving by one of those "blind" people begging at the robots. They stuck a knife to his neck, switched off his ignition and demanded he give them his cellphone which he pretended not to have and they stole his gold chain instead, then shortly disappeared.

I will never give to those people begging at street corners purely because of these issues.
