But I think the punchline to all this is: 2D BOY made around $100,000 in a week. That’s $50,000 each for writing a blog post about a game they finished a year ago. By letting people pay whatever they wanted. That’s damned important information.

:D I think it's absolutely awesome :)

Also goes to show that if someone is prepared to buy something, they will. 2DBoy FTW! :D

Yeah, if you check the comments/polls [link on the page] you'll see that 8% wanted to actually go legit over a pirated version.

Good news, hope people take note of this success :D

And a few million voted for the ANC, a few hundred thousand believe Paris Hilton can sing and a couple billion practise hypocrisy in their daily lives.

You're not making a very good case for yourself, cheap-skate :p

Ouch. Too sharp Lycan...too sharp. lol

Hmm, well I thought this game was excellent! But apparently there will be no sequel as it was pirated to death. :-( if this is true then it shows that no-one is willing to support game dev, no matter how cheap the game gets...

I got it for $19 off Steam a while back. I won't go so far as to say it was pirated to death, since I'm sure they've made a fair amount of profit, since it was only two guys who developed it.

Also, they've been quoted as saying that pirates were never their target market, and that they don't consider it a lost sale.

Also, they've raked in a fair amount of money from the last week's special, so I'm prepared to say they've done fairly well for an indie game. I look forward to future Goo balls :)

This also happened to Penny arcade game.

I bought this game for $5 for my girl friend. I paid the full $20 months ago, no regrets, amazing game.

Yeh the game is totally worth buying... I'm still playing it and trying to find mods for it so that i can create new lvls and submit them online :D

Raising the dead. Because 2Dboy decided to extend the process, we need to review this again, check out the results on the webpage

Linux users paid more for the game (I actually downloaded both linux and windows versions)

Most generous countries?
1. Brazil
2. Hungary
3. South Africa

Least generous:
South Korea

Looks like the "pay as much as you like" was hugely successful!

Problem with statistics is how absolutely skewed they are :)

For example, since Windows users are the most prevalent (I assume), who says most haven't already bought WoG for the $20 on Steam, which I imagine doesn't have Linux support? Wouldn't that then imply that most Linux users are cheapskates? :D

Disclaimer: No hits me! :o

I like to think of it as they because they didnt pay for an OS, they have more money to burn on other things (like WoG and WUG :P )
