Worth upgrading existing AMD PC?

Hi guys

I love AMD, been a fan for years. I want to upgrade my entire system, seeing that all the components where bought 3 years ago. Should i stick with AMD or go INTEL, because intel hardware is cheaper and more excessable and quality AMD components seems hard to find.

My RIG
AMD Athlone 64 X2 5200+ 2.6GHz CPU
Biostar mcp6pm2 AM2 motherboard
Kingston 3GB DDR2 800Mhz Memory
Zotac 9500GT 512MB GDDR3 Graphics card (ja i know!)
Seagate 500GB 5400RPM HDD
Coolermaster CPU Cooler
Aercool VX-R chassis

Some suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as i would like to upgrade at the end of the month.

if you want to upgrade with amd i would reccomend wait til the end of september once the new cpu's launch

if you can't wait. a intel i5 sandy bridge system is not a bad buy either
 
I should say yes go for intel. I have intel i5-2500k overclocked to 4.7GHz and coming from a core2quad q9450 it really makes the world of difference. Also upgrade to at least the MSI gtx560Ti Hawx or Twin frozr II as that is the most value for money GPU at the moment. For power supply go for a corsair 650W if you not going bigger than GTX560ti. If your an AMD fan wait for BD to launch, September 19th as far as I know.
If you want to upgrade now, then go for a 2500k sandy bridge setup. Fantastic rig cpu, ive had 2.

thanks for the info guys! i looked into the sandy bridge processors and it looks very interesting.I am a AMD fan but i dont mind getting a intel if it's the best on the market thus far.
 
imho go for intel now man, been a amd fan since k7's but lately intel is the way to go ... a nice sandybridge with a decent i7 would be awesome also you'll need some ram , the other stuff u can keep and upgrade laters or if u got the $$$ do it all same time, but my recomm go for a full mobo boards , dont go for mini's or micro's
 
Just wait for bulldozer. All AMD prices will drop when its out.
Depending on your budget, id go with something like a Phenom II 955, a nice ROG mobo and decent RAM. And of corse a great GPU :)

The reason he says go for a ATX mobo and not a M-ATX or Mini ATX etc, is that most of the time your ATX boards are more featurefull, but sometimes there is the same board in M-ATX and ATX, slightly different specs but almost identical, and for those it really makes no difference. But usually ATX boards or even E-ATX, are more feature full and generally higher spec'd boards.
