WoW 4.0.1 update - Thoughts?

I haven't actually played it yet, but have had a look at the changes.

I'm pretty much in two minds with the new talent tree. Don't really see the point of locking it. I like that they have shortened the talent tree, but find that by the time I finished the tree I have pretty much selected most of it. Makes me feel that everyone is basically going to have very similar set ups with very little diversity. Overall i think the changes are great, just a little iffy on some of them.

Has anyway actually given it a bash yet?

Keep in mind the trees are aimed at lvl 85 setups, but I get what you're saying about having to select most of the tree before jumping across with your last 3 points.

My melee dps got quite a boost. Unbuffed I maintain 6k on target boss dummies.

I _REALLY_ like the idea of reforging. It's an idea stolen from LOTRO / Aion, but it's awesome!

The fact that hunters are going back to focus and no longer use mana or bullets/ammo is very cool.

Better or worse, it's a fresh change that everyone needed.

The new patch is exactly what WoW needed. It has changed the way pretty much every class has become accustomed to playing, and it's blown old, boring rotations completely out of the water to pave the way for new rotations, builds and strategies.

I play a Druid and I can safely say that I love the new patch, with all it's advantages and disadvantages.

Better yet the patch is only the beginning, showing only a few of the awesome features coming with the release of Cataclysm.

Rest assured I will play and love Cata.

Yeah totally agree with you guys. I change is generally good.... never been hugely into it, but a couple friends have started recently so giving it a bash again.... and loving it.

Although I'm excited as hell (wanted to say a nasty word :P ) but problem is the patch seems to have been released somewhat early. You only have to take a gander at the technical forums and see how many bugs are evident within the game.

This.

I can't understand how they can release and test the patch for months on PTR and still release such a buggy patch, oh well. At least they have some time to fix em'. Can't wait for Cata.

In b4 major patch always buggy, etc.

See I dont mind the buggy patch that much. So far the biggest bug we have encountered was the fact that even if your in a guild you log in and it tells you "You are not in a guild". But if we look at the guild page they are definitely in the guild, so far either relogging or kicking the member and inviting them back seems to solve it for a while.

Otherwise, I love the new talents. I had a look last nite and there are very few of the mages whose got the same tree as me. Its all about your play style now. And the fact that Im critting for 12 - 15k on Pyroblasts makes me a very happy player. I also pushed the graphics details to max, just to have a look see at all the changes, and it looks great. The level of detail is definitely higher making some areas prettier! But since I dont have the best gfx card I just dropped it back to a level below max and found that its more than playable. Better than before for me. FPS is now between 50 -70 even in Dala :D

The only bug that I've experienced so far is that I when I use flightpoints and alt-tab out of the game I disconnect when I land.

I am enjoying resto druid at the moment, but I think a lot of classes is overpowered at the moment. When Cataclysm hits and everybody gets to 85, it might be a different story.

Patch is awesome. I'm doing 18k dps in ICC.. but i suspect that it will drop since they nerfed my Insect Swarm.

Reforging is the single coolest aspect they could have added for cataclysm, even if you get a sub par item you can make it better by tuning the stats. This will screw up those BiS spreadsheets a lot and I'm thankful for it. Cataclysm(4.0.1 +) has made the player a much more integral part of the whole gaming experience.

The Changes and update itself is awesome, Im loving being able to browse your guildie's professions even when they are offline. small stuff like that makes the difference!

Other than that, there are issues, I discovered the hard way not to launch the game without using the offical Launcher (not straight wow.exe like I used to). That new Streaming feature wasnt designed to run in SA :/

I am really enjoying the patch. Paladin tanking received a new breath of life. At the start I had major threat issues, but now, as long as the DPS give me a chance to _hit_ the boss, they will not pull off me.

Getting 83K crits on Shield of the Righteous makes me a happy tank! :D

I finally managed to start playing normally again and I have to say. I am LOVING it. My pally is sooo epic now :D The healing is great especially on my lvl 72 shammy that used to have mana probs :)

Atm, druid healing is easier for me than it has been before the patch. No deaths unless somebody (including me) does something very stupid. I have also been running HC's most of the night the last week and am not really getting bored of it. Aiming for a couple of upgrades (4T10, trinket, cloak and maybe belt) which I should be able to get this weekend, considering the amount of points I'm farming.

Ive been having latency issues the last couple of days, which was rather weird. Im on Web Africa titan data and before this Ive never had any issues. But my biggest gripe at the moment is I cant buy northrend cooking spices. Some kind of bug/bag error :(

Otherwise, I specced arcane last nite wanted to test that out but since the lag and constant DC's I couldnt. Pally tanking has for me become alot easier now.
