wug

Well, how does the whole process work?

How and who do I contact to set it up, once I but the kit?
What are the advantages/disadvantages?

Is it basically just one big network? Do I share files the same way I would on a local network?

The whole process from start to finish is explained in great detail here : http://www.ptawug.co.za/content_list_11

You set up the kit yourself, just read the getting started guide from section 4 : http://www.ptawug.co.za/content_list_11

Advantages: Free comms to about 1500 other users + Jawug (JHB network) - gaming, voip, filesharing
Disadvantages : Addiction. As it is a community project there are no service gaurentees - if a highsite goes down - the users have to fix it.

One big network ja - like a mini internet. Wiki, wugtube, torrent server, voip servers, css and cod servers.

It's a free and open network, anyone can run any service they like.

As awesome as it is, I'm just not sure the effort going into it is worth it, not sure if I can get signal in my area.

Anyone here using the Northcliff/Randburg Wug?

I'm assuming this is pretty decent:
