xbl gold for R5 (SA account)

If anyone's toying with the idea of signing up for xbl gold, I just noticed on the xbl dashboard, there's a 48 hour special for R5 for the first month.

The catch is that they will put auto-renew on, and charge you R50 per month from then on, but all you need to do is buy the one month, and then cancel the auto-renew. I think the special is because MS is trying to push Live in SA at the moment
 
I was just very disappointed with the amount of content on the SA XBox Live MarketPlace.
The US/UK has soooo much more.

Thus I have two accounts, main one is SA. Had to do this as some DLC I got with my copy of GoW 2 didn't want to come down when it was still UK account. Unless I did something wrong.... still a XBox noob on my part.
 
Still got 11 months remaining on my live. I also saw it on the weekend just before I launched a game and was a bit sad that I missed out on this one.
Still, I got the better deal. What I have now works out to about R21 a month, give or take.

Yea, I've also got the 12 month subs, so I didn't bother with this deal. I think it would have just tacked another month on the end of my current subscription, but then I would have had to call and cancel the auto-renew again

Yeah, I've also heard that it can be quite a mission trying to cancel the auto-renew subscription. Besides, I don't like the idea of my credit card details being stored in the cloud.

Really? I turned mine off within a few seconds after creating my Live account.
 
I used the auto-renew for a few months before I got the 12 month sub.
Cancelling is literally just a phonecall away. Still I agree that its better not to have your credit card info lying in their database.
 
Ya, I spotted that too. Pondering if I should pop another month onto the end of my subscription

Just keep an eye out when you sign in to xbl. It'll probably pop up again, they've done it a few times recently. It's just for SA accounts though, I think MS is trying to promote Live in SA
