XBox 360 250GB HDD From Take 2 @ R852

Just buy this and put in your own drive.............

It does actually work. You buy the drive cover, then buy a 250GB hard drive that the 360 will recognize for dirt cheap, save yourself like R500.

Let me google that for you!

It won't recognize it automatically, you need to hack it first. Still need to find time to try this out. But first I need to try and backup what's on my drive ATM.

Correct yes, you need to flash the firmware on the hard drive with the correct security code, that's why I put the "Let me google that for you!" link at the bottom, some very good tutorials on how to do it. If you aren't that clued up with your PC it can be tricky, if you are, it will take you all of 5 minutes. It definitely works, my current 360 HD is a 250GB sitting in the 120GB case that came with my 360.

Yeah, I know there are ways to hack it, its like saying why buy expensive games when u can just copy your friends game on a blank disc and save money...
It can be done but then you need to "hack" your machine.

Ok maybe that comparison is a bit wayward, but my point is someone can't just buy a standard HHD and expect it to work :p

EDIT: On that note...can MS detect your HDD and ban you from LIVE if they see its been tampered with?

Thanks so much for posting Xenophone, I will definitely be getting this, that's half the price of an official 120 gig HDD.

The problem is that the transfer kit they provide is probably a "once-off" thing....that sucks because you can't even sells your old HDD to someone else without the whole "transfer" issue popping its head up. Then again, it would be cool to use your old HDD on a cheap XBOX 360 arcade and start from scratch anyways :)

Good point, that now effectively means that a consumer can get an arcade system for R1999 from L&L or Musica plus a 250 gig HDD for R900 (including postage) = R2900, not bad seeing as the elite system is still selling at R3199

What are you talking about R1999? I'm gonna pick up one for R999 at that catsdigital sale! lmao. Maybe I should pick up 2....or 16. :D

is this the same HDD just advertised as coming out for xbox as a standalone in the USA for 80 dollars?

if it is, at R850 its a steal

In the ad that ran on the web it mentioned that the transfer cable was included in the package, I'm not sure if the same is true for the one from take 2, no mention is made on the description page.
