I bought the xbox receiver and controller combo for R500 at btgames, you can sell the controller if you don't need it

If it's the transceiver you're talking about, you should try Kalahari or Takealot -- they're sure to have one. Not sure their pricing though. I bought mine with 2 games from Matrix Warehouse for R500 some months ago.

Bought mine at BT Games too but paid R399 a couple of months ago... receiver, driver cd and free batteries!
