Xbox 360 Elite vs PS3 Slim (Cnet TV Video Prizefight)

Hi guys. Have a look at this video, what are your thoughts?

http://cnettv.cnet.com/xbox-360-elite-vs-ps3-slim/9742-1_53-50080611.html

My big thoughts:

  • 1. The Blue-ray and extra features at the PS3's reduced price is really an amazing deal.
    2. The Xbox Live on-line features are awesome!

I bought my Xbox360 19 months ago, but if I had to spend that money again, the PS3 would win hands down.

A good breakdown of the hard facts that a lot of fanboys tend to gloss over when choosing sides.

It depends on what you want really, but IMHO you can't go wrong with the PS3 Slim/Blu-Ray combo for the price.

Actually owning both consoles now i can give my feedback.
The PS3 Slim is a gr8 machine and although i haven't played nearly as many games on it as i have on my xbox i do like those i have played. Like you said it comes down to what you want. I would miss Halo, GOW, Mass Effect and those exclusives if i didn't have an xbox. Same i would miss Uncharted, Heavy Rain and God of War if i didn't have an PS3. Neither is my favourit, although i spend alot of time on my xbox (Mass Effect FTW), with the price so long its not that hard to afford both these gr8 consoles.

Oh stop rubbing it in Omega! :P Thanks for the feedback though. I thought having both consoles would be overkill, but you have a good point, plus I have the added bonus of using the line "If we're going to buy a blue-ray player anyway, the PS3 is still one of the best around".

With the amount of multiplat titles it does seem like overkill but the exclusives are worth it. Only issue i have with the ps3 is the price of a new controller. R900:eek: And the ps fanbois say M$ is stealing our monies.

Interesting points made here as I am yet to get a new Console. I am leaning towards the PS3 for that Blue ray player and Free PSN.

I am yet to watch the video but cant do it here at work. I will check later.
Thanks

I agree. Owning both consoles is the way to go. No other way around it. Period.

Ok then... all I have to do is start saving up for that PS3... shouldn't take me more than 7 years, 3 months, 2 weeks, 4 days, 9 hours and 23 seconds...

and when the battery in the ps3 control eventually goes, then you have to chuck the whole controller out the window

The battery is replaceable,

Sauce

Also shop around you can pick up a controller for R645.
If you buy a DS3 for R900 you should be shot

I don't know how useful this is, but I feel like sharing.
Official Sony Dual Shock 3 PS3 controllers are around R370 odd in Hong Kong. I picked my second one up there.

This means two things :
1) Get a friend that is going to Hong Kong.
2) Ster kinekor is stealing our monies.

:)

key word = Kinda replaceable (not officially replaceable like a 360 bat)

So buying new penlites every two weeks is better? Or you could buy a play and charge kit that will die as well eventually, just like the PS3 one. Point being that both controllers are expensive, and as far as I know the DS3's batteries last a very long time. My friend bought a launch model PS3 and the controllers are still perfectly fine.

Launch ps3 models didnt come with dualshock controllers, secondly when i bought my launch xbox 360 at launch in late 2006 i bought a play and charge kit with it and guess what ? the battery still works. oh and 360 controllers are dirt cheap compared to sixaxis or ds3 controls.

oh and only an idiot would use penlites instead of rechargeable AA batteries.

Last time I checked rechargeable AA batteries aren't too cheap either. And then there will still be the case of forgetting to charge your batteries and them dying in the middle of a gaming session. The best option is the play and charge kit.

I was gonna say that :p It's not terribly more expensive than an xbox controller but must say that if I had the choice of a nice new game or a 2nd controller so a friend can play with me...The game seems to win lately :p
