Xbox Live Gold Subscription Price Triples... And Then Some!

Did anybody get this? Has to be a typo, right?

As of June 20, 2016 the price of your 1 month Xbox Live Gold subscription will increase from R 50,00 to R 159,00.

As such, the prices of your Xbox Live Gold subscription packages will be increasing. As of June 20, 2016 the price of your 1 month Xbox Live Gold subscription will increase from R 50,00 to R 159,00. If your subscription is currently set to auto-renew before June 20, 2016, you will be charged the current price at the time of your next scheduled auto-renewal. If your subscription is currently set to auto-renew after June 20, 2016, you will be charged the new price at the time of your next scheduled auto-renewal.

Blame the economy and the exchange rate. Same thing happened with 3 and 12 month PSN subs. The prices where coming in cheaper than the EU/US so the pricing was adjusted to match the EU's pricing.

Yeah that's quite a crazy increase. This is what happens when the PS/Xbox Store don't use set pricing for our region like Steam or Origin.

See it like this, all prices are increasing..food, alcohol, power, petrol.. and yet we still buy it because it's one of our essentials.
 
hmm, was waiting for this too happen..
Must say since I have had Xbox Gold for the past +3 years it has not gone up unlike the PSN side...

Sure, but if one of the shops more than tripled the price of their bread I'd go buy it somewhere else on principle alone.
 
I got the same email, so this is no joke or typo. Seems the prices are increasing heavily. Oh well, I'm still getting 4 games for the price of R150 every month, so that's nice.
 
Not only do they increase the prices but this month's Games with Gold is pathetic. As if the two XBox One games aren't bad enough, it would seem that Costume Quest 2 doesn't work for South Africans. If you on the web you will see it and can "buy" it from the Games with Gold section. You will see that the link takes you to the US Store. The game doesn't show up in my library.

On the XBox they show a different crappy game that one can get in the Games with Gold screen. Freaken SlashDash! I can't believe they picked what looks like a phone game to be our free game for the month!
