Xbox One controller PC compatibility confirmed

I don't really use my current controller so I doubt I will be purchasing the new one any time soon.

That's all good, but is there any difference to what the Xbox 360 controller can do on a PC?

Rumble feedback for the joysticks and possibly using the task-switching button to ALT+TAB out of games, or launch an overlay - at least, that's what I imagine they could be working on.

I can't see em giving PC users something special, just once the have the console out the will give the dev team a side project to code. It's not like the current one has special features, why would the new one be any different. Will be nice to lose that battery compartment though

I dunno, I actually like the battery compartment. Those grooves down the sides are nice to rest your fingertips while you get your game on.

I think this will be great for HTPCs because now the controller argument wont work for Xbox fanboys. Not that it ever really worked though...

You can already launch the steam BPM overlay when pressing the guide button on the existing Xbox controller.

I love mine so i really hope that make it forward compatible with the newer games as well as making the new one backward compatible.

i just really hope they bring out a WIRED edition. call me old school but changing batteries sucks. a wireless one will also require some dongle on my PC, no doubt...

You'd probably have to have windows 8,I have a feeling MS will say you need windows 8,so that sales on that OS will go up.

Don't you have the battery pack? It's like R250

the wired controller is cheaper, plus it plugs into your PC's USB port and just works. no dongles and binding up etc etc... the play and charge kit does only charging and no data is sent via the USB cable.

The dongle is also plug and play, synced it once on day one and never again, just turn it on and have fun

Yeah fan of the wired controller on the pc, use my wireless ones on the xbox. In regards to the new controller, this is good news, even though I thought it was a given.

I'm sure it would have been a given even if MS didnt have a tendancy to state the obvious. Maybe they feel the need to spell things out after the recent PR disaster at E3.
