Xbox One without Kinect coming to South Africa

Yeah, guess we will have to wait and see.. Just hoping its considerably cheaper than the PS4.

Yet sadly it won't be. I admire your determination and 'wishful thinking'. The XBONE without a Kinect is the same as a PS4, why would the XBO be cheaper? Specifically in a country where we are suffering with foreign currencies? Sorry but the logic (to me) just does not add up.

Then again we are all allowed to have our dreams, it just sucks when they do no come true.

I'm with Termin8r on this one. The only reasonable way that they can intend to compete here is if they release at a stupidly low price; ironically by removing the Kinect they have made the console actively less attractive an option than the PS4. Without the Kinect even more of the XBONe's weaknesses are brought to light; so I don't know how they will market this product effectively.

The initial problem was the Kinect had to come with the XBONE, what if I dont want to have voice commands? Play Kinect games? Skype? I was forced to buy equipment that I did not want to use, I would never have used the Kinect Camera if I owned a XBONE, I would have bought one out of the need for a gaming console. Now that they unbundled the Kinect from the XBONE and dropped it buy $100 it puts it directly into the PS4's price range making it easier for MS to sell the XBONE.

Problem is that head-to-head; As a purely gaming machine, (which a kinectless XBONE is), there is no reason to buy a XBONE over a PS4. The Kinect functionality at least had the bonus of making a greater multimedia platform with great ease of use. The way they made their kinect work this time round made a person who wants a hands-free(ish) multimedia centre would greatly consider an XBONE. Without it why would that person look twice at a machine considerably weaker than its direct competition ?

dont know why any one would want an xbox one when they have dstv and a pc, thats all an xbox one is about, you buy a console to play games not to watch tv and surf the net. and dont abr XBOX ONE to XBONE, Seriously X"BONE" very disturbing what these people plan on doing to an xbox one

Well then seeing as no one wants the Xbox One when it launches here, at least the stock will not run out and I'll be able to get mine without having to stand in line

Also, it is a good thing for Microsoft to give the option of getting a console without the Kinect, but it is still going to form a very integral part of the consoles experience. I just hope that Microsoft doesn't ditch it all together, because say what you want, the technology in that thing is awesome. It's just a pity that the software lets it down. With no real good game integration, and with the voice recognition software still a few years from being 100% accurate, it's a bit before it's time I think. But still great fun to use it none the less.

So yes, maybe I am a fanboy, but looking at the two consoles, I'm sticking to the Xbox. I just don't like the PS4.

Did anyone of you guys watch that documentary about them digging that hole to find those E.T cartridges well now they can fill it up with all those kinects.
