XBox Slim HDD

I bought the 4GB XBox over the festive season as I couldn't find stock of the 250GB anywhere.

Does anyone know where I can buy the HDD for a reasonable price? I don;t mind 3rd party either.

Another thing, if I install games on the HDD I assume my loading times for games/stages will increase dramatically?

Dude is actually a dude-es (female) :) anyway, AFAIK thats the only difference. I did the same with my xbox, bought the arcade first then bought the 250gig HDD later, worked out a whole lot cheaper.

Another advantage would be that you save your disc laser from reading the entire time, thus reducing the risk of a DVD-rom failure.

Yip, the HDD is the only difference.
 
Nah, there's no other significant difference between models. Except the gloss / matte finish, anyway.

I usually install games so I don't have to hear the disc burring away in the drive. Granted, the new slims are MUCH quieter than the old aircraft hangar models.

Yeah HUGE difference in the noise factor. Old xbox I would have to radio in to the control tower before take off :rolleyes:

Even though the new model is way quieter, I still install my games.
 
Ya, thanks guys and girls for the info and yes, it is I. I have also updated my dodgy GT from JUGGY696969 to JuggyZA which is a bit better I think. MS klapped me 800 points to change it, swinedogs from hell...

These new XBoxes are awesome, very happy with mine. Last one I had was the pro 20GB from 2007 I think it was. The display went all green on me, I got so upset I threw it in the bin and forgot about it. Had about 5000 score on it and do you think I can remember what my GT or my email was at the time? Anyways, starting from scratch again with DiRT and DiRT 2 and a wee bit of Hot Pursuit.
