Would I still be required to purchase a ridiculously overpriced HDMI cable, making the actual purchase price around R3450?

Not sure, when i purchased my elite it came with an HDMI cable :D dont think they come with them anymore tho

The new Elites are definitely not coming with HDMI cables. My girlfriend bought one in Dec, and she stole my cable! :)

I am seriously considering upgrading the old PRO 20GB now though... Damn you Makro.
 
Any standard HDMI cable works with the xbox 360 ... unless like me you need to connect a 5.1 sound system with it in which case you need to buy the HDMI cable with the audio attachment which I got fro R550 at Musica Sandton City
