Not sure if these are fake or not but it makes for some awesome reading.

Awesome. I really want one, but that price will make me fall off my chair...

Might go for the 280X

Yip its looking more and more promising.
If you do pull the trigger on a 280X try grabbing a Sapphire 280X Toxic edition

Stock on hand

GPU-Z looks a bit odd. TPU have noted before that they had validations for Hawaii cards a few weeks ago. 384 unified shaders looks weird too. I guess they're hiding away the rest of the info for when the NDA lifts.

My initial guesses were right as well ^_^ Its much, much faster than a GTX780. I've heard that an OC GTX780 just matches the Hawaii card sitting at stock speeds. I think I may have to clear out my credit card for next year and look at grabbing a R9 290 for my new rig.

I can't even imagine the hurt the Firepro line will be heaping on Nvidia soon, although CUDA is really entrenched in the HPC market.

I'm far more excited at this point to see how they fixed Crossfire, 4K and Eyefinity. AMD had the chance to work on a clean slate with Hawaii and I hope they took every opportunity they had.

I wonder if the pricing will be relative to the increase over the 780...?

Yep, pretty much. I expect that where the GTX780 retails for around $650 right now, the R9 290 will fit in at $550 and the R9 290X will be at $700 or thereabouts. At least, that's what I know from speaking to a few retailers which is all they can disclose (Evetech setting the price at R9499 is only a placeholder).

Keep an eye out for the reviews and see how Nvidia reacts this month. Its going to be insane.

Did I miss something? Is this a new naming convention for ATI cards?

Radeon HD becomes Radeon R. R9 addresses price points above $200 while R7 deals with price points ranging between $60 and $199. R5 and R3 will be reserved for cheap mobile products and other implementations that will go into embedded markets and tablets. I'm not sure what they'll do with R1, possibly nothing at all.

There will also be mobile R9 and R7 GPUs as well. Nothing different from Radeon HD with four numbers, really. Some people even write the model numbers as "Radeon R9290, or R7250, but this gives AMD plenty of leeway in a product stack to move things around.

Wow, I haven't been up to speed with PC hardware for a long time after migrating to the console. Now that I'm moving back to PC gaming I have to decide on a card for myself. Thanks for the post!

I'll probably be getting the GTX 680 as this puppy is a bit out of my reach. :-)

I got the powercolor R9 270x O.C should be enough to play BF4 on ultra, did you get any nice goodies with this card like game codes or something?

Never Settle Forever doesn't apply to the Radeon R-200 series. I would have recommend the R9 280X if you had the cash, that would be a better buy for Battlefield 4.

I see its still a pre-order? In that case, if you want the free games bundle, the PowerColor HD7950 is only R500 more. Its a far better performer as well.

No don't have it yet but i have it on pre-order(already paid) arrives the 21st and I'll receive it by the 23rd, and was a bit tight on cash that's why i settled on the R9 270X and according to the BF4 specs i would still be able to play on ultra.

Was only wondering about the games bundle because of the 7000 series of card that got bundled with them and just assumed that with the re-brand they would keep it.
