SA citizens that don't give a shit about other SA citizens.

Saturday night, on her way home from work, my wife was involved in a smash & grab. As she was waiting at the robot on the N7 turnoff to get onto Plattekloof rd this neatly dressed, shiny black tracksuit wearing motherfucker came up to her passenger side window, pretending to beg for money. After she told him no he kept hanging around, at which point my wife realised that something was wrong. She was surrounded by cars and had nowhere to go so she started to hit the horn to get the other driver's around her's attention or to at least get them to move out of the way. It was useless. It was then that this shit stain on society gave her a smile (yes he fucking grinned at her like he was taking pleasure out of her distress), shattered the window and grabbed her handbag and disappeared into the bushes. When the light turned green, all the other cars just went on their merry way. Not one person even stopped to check if she was ok. So to everybody that was on that N7/Plattekloof turnoff Saturday night at 21:30 I would like to say FUCK YOU you miserable pieces of "human" shit!

</rage>

I apologise for my colourful language, but I had to get it off my chest.

That sucks, dude, sorry to hear. But I'm glad your wife's okay! Handbag goes in the boot from now on, Ms. Malice, mkay?

yeah she already got a talking to. and her phone is normally in the center console when she's driving but as Murphy would have it that night she put it in her bag for some reason. he got everything but her bank card. but I think she is mostly upset about her makeup and brushes...

Ag, if there was nothing in the bag, it would still have been worth getting upset over. It sucks so bad. :(

I've always had this day dream of putting a handbag on the passenger side of my car, a nice bright one, window open, making it easy to grab and run away. Obviously he wouldn't notice the thin cable attached the bottom of the seat, slipping from the bag as he pulls it, giving a slight tug. As he's running, smiling about how he just scared the driver and proved his superiority, he would also not remember seeing the small round ring attached to the end of the cable that slip from inside the handbag...

The lost property is nothing compared to what she felt at that moment and the emotional stress she might experience.

Another thing, I have often wondered about society. How and why people dont always help. With the times we live in, a human life mean nothing. I think, sometimes people don't help, not just out of being selfish, but out of fear. If you were to get out and help? You would most likely get stabbed or shot. Criminals have no worry or second thought about your safety, if they kill a husband, wife, father, mother, etc, they couldn't be bothered, just an awesome story to tell.

This world we share with certain other humans...

yeah she's still not sleeping much and is reluctant to drive. or rather stop at traffic lights. she now gets panicky if anybody just looks like they are approaching the car

Wife has been trained, handbag in the boot with cellphone and everything. Bluetooth on and windows up.

Next thing I want to get her is a Tippmann TiPX with Skullbreaker and Pepper balls, just incase she needs it

Personally, I'd go with pepperspray. The type that sprays a fog (like normal deodorant) instead of a stream as its easier to aim. Spray and get the hell out of there. We dont have training and experience to hang around.
Get her a small can for her to carry on her.

Other than that, claymores with glass fragments on the side of the car.... err, sorry, I have an overactive imagination...

I keep a tazer in the side next to me... but if anything looks dodge, windows up and bag hidden
Im overly cautious

Well I stopped wearing jewellery after they ripped a small thin silver chain off my neck a few years ago. I now don't drive with huge open windows - no air con so summer is fun. My handbag is tiny, so it fits under the seat and you cannot see it. I still want a tazer to keep in the car for those days when you are parked at a mall and late night movie walking alone to the car. I will carry it around for that alone.

What grinds my gears is varsity students (which we have to assume are relatively intelligent people) demonstrating violently because fees are going up. Dafaq? Studying at higher learning institutions is a privilege first of all, not a right, secondly most of these institutions are private institutions which need funding not only from student fees, but from government and other institutions to pay for their facilities, faculty staff and research. These things cost money, in fact these things cost more money every single year. This also enables these private higher learning institutions to provide quality education to their students. Now paying and eager young minds are being denied access to classes (which they have paid for) and might be unable to write exams (to pass the degrees/courses they have paid for) because a number of numbskulls have decided that they don't like an increase in fees? WTF is wrong with these people. Expel the protesting students, call the cops and get them forcibly removed from private property they have no right to be on (being expelled and no longer part of the student body)

oh, and if a bloody protester gets in front of my car they are going to kak. In fact, if they get close to my car they will kak.

My dad is an avid cycler. He used to do road cycling, until a Taxi road over him, putting him in ICU for months a few years ago. So he switched to Mountain bike to avoid the cars. He does however still have to cross the occasional tarred road to get to Mountain Bike tracks.

Yesterday, as my dad came up to a robot he waited for it to show green for him to quickly ride over the road onto the dirt across the road.
He saw no cars had indicators showing that they were going to turn into his direction.
As he was halfway in the road, a few "jong latte" turned into my dads direction and started cussing and showing signals. My dad did however make the mistake of engaging, and asked why his indicator was not on. They guy said "I was busy with something else". Words were exchanged and as my dad saw things got heated he just left the scene. About 1 km away, the same car came speeding down behind my dad, barreling straight to his direction, trying to run my dad over. my dad managed to go over side walks and through gardens to avoid them. They followed him to his house, but were too cowardly to get out of the car once they could not run my dad over.... What has become of this country?
