Your PC Specs

People have varying amounts of disposable income. Case solved.

Hopefully I will have a bulldozer pc by the end of next month :) depending on when it becomes available in SA of course.

Are you that certain that Bulldozer will be better than Sandy Bridge-or almost as good, but cheaper, and preferably less power hungry than Phenom 2.

I bought myself a Radeon HD 6870 last month. Other than that, my PC specs are the same as they were the last time I posted on this thread.

No, but i will decide when i have facts. The main issue, which is also clear in the phenom's before, is that having more cores does not make for more performance unless the app uses them. This is also why the 2600k et al seem as fast as the hexa-core 980 and 990s, which will whip the 2600K in 6-core apps.

Edit: Also, next weekend is the international release, so it is worth waiting to see... if you are looking at buying a pc. hold off just a little.

The Apps that use 6cores are very specialized and not many people use them let alone have them. For Gaming the 2600k is the best CPU that you can buy. No AMD CPU comes close.

Edit: The Overclockability of the 2500k and 2600k are insane! The 2600k has seen overclocks to 5GHz from 3.4GHz. That will trump an overclocked 980x.

Thats what i said :P

Everything over quad-core are not performing as expected because there aren't enough apps/games/whatever that use the. Hence why AMD's hexacore is not outperforming anything even though theoretically it should.

That said, The bulldozer chip may be more of a multi-threaded-type vibe rather than a real 8-core. We just need to wait and see, and the wait isn't long.

mmmm my spec:

LG optimus 1

OS Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo), upgradable to v2.3
CPU 600 MHz ARM 11 processor, Adreno 200 GPU, Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset

:) i dont have pc but still want to be apart of your club... can i please... :D

At least! I was wondering when they would become available. Reviews should follow shortly after, eh?

*At last.

Yes, I believe toms hardware may already have some and have been requested to wait on the benchmarks. not sure on the legitimacy of that, but i see AM3+ boards are also scheduled for release so something is going to happen soon.

I can believe that. They're probably just waiting for the embargo to be lifted.

*It does feel as if we have had to wait an age.

I'm not optimistic about it beating Sandy Bridge, but hope that it can come close while costing less.
That in itself would make it a worthwhile buy for me.

I have an Acer 7740G laptop

Core i5 540M
ATI 1 Gb mobile graphics card
17.3" screen
4Gb of 1066Mhz DDR3
640Gb HDD (being swapped out for a 250Gb SSD soon)

Ok ok my PC has someone stabilized for now so here it is:

[email protected]
6gb mixed ram - 4gb transcend and 2gb corsair xms2 ddr2800.
Random am2+ asus board
950W EZ-Cool PSU
Sapphire HD5870v2
1.5tb of hdd space (meh)

P2770h
CM690 custom modded with watercooling - 1/2 Aquagate Max and 1/2 Koolance Exos-AL.
Crappy Microsoft keyboard and crappy a4tech mouse, and crappy Creative 2.1 speakers

I switched my PC on again after it's been chilling since January.. Started fiddling around a bit with it yesterday.

Here's the current specs:

AMD Phenom II x2 550 BE - Unlocked 3rd core, running @ 3.5GHz (Stock cooling)
Biostar TA790 128M-GXE MB
4Gb (4x 1Gb) Corsair XMS DDR2 800MHz (4-4-4-12)
Corsair GS-600 PSU
XFX GeForce GTX280
2x 320Gb SATA II (3 Gb/s) HDD's

Waiting for Bulldozer's announcement next week (Apparently it's been delayed as they can't manufacture quick enough and won't be able to supply everywhere on the planned date and MB manufacturers are waiting for the chip to be released).

After that I'm upgrading to a AM3+ MB with 4Gb (2x 2Gb) Corsair RAM - AM3+ boards are backwards compatible and I'm certain that running Bulldozer on AM3 won't be as good] and going to see if a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus fits on the board, then I'll OC the CPU some more and wait for Bulldozer's price to drop.

As you can see I'm one of those that only upgrades if it really is necassary.

Yeah, postponed to july due to "Apparently the performance of B1 stepping silicon doesn't look too good."

What are the minimum and recommended system specs for Witcher 2? Does anyone know?

Intel i7 920 @ 2.6GHz
4GB Memory
Geforce GTX 460 1GB
Samsung Syncmaster 2232 GW
Logitech G35 Headset
MS Sidewinder X4 Keyboard
Prestigio Gaming Mouse

Runs Witcher 2 on Ultra with "Uber Sampling" off.

My hard drives need upgrading, but I don't feel like reinstalling everything so it'll have to wait. I'm a real lazy gamer I am.

um. Why do you only have 4GB ram? Are you running the ram in dual channel? If so why would you do that? The reason i ask is you spend a premium on a 1366 system and don't use one of the main reasons for the x58. You may as well have got a 1156 and run Dual Channel.

LOL, was also wondering why no tri.maybe it is a matched pair?

But if you are gonna spend that money on a x58 board you may as well have spent a extra R300-R400 for tri. I was a bit wrong in saying that he could have gone for 1156 cause they are also pricey. Should have said he could have gone for a Core2Quad and the fully utilized dual channel! I kid but serious, what a waste!

There are other reasons, like the i7 chip... I know you get i7s on the 1156 but they're not quite the same.

To sum up, get tri-channel man.
