Your Personal GOTY for 2013?

BF4... The only game I actually played this year :) Unless Farcry 3 was 2013, then definitely FarCry 3...

Will keep an eye out for it to go on sale, saw plenty people buy it during the Winter Sale.

I like you only wanted to only play BF4 and I did, but was disappointed by the campaign story, Decided to also play Ghosts and was completely blown by it and in my honest opinion my GOTY!

Mostly stair meshes in games are actual ramps more than square stairs. This counters the possibility of getting stuck on such things. You'll notice TPS games (Like GTA/Watch Dogs) focus more on square step than FPS games do, since you don't actually see your feet take each step.

I'm sure it cuts out a lot of work for some designers - which is okay by me :)
 
I think any movement of a character in a game takes a lot of work, I have learned, rather forced myself to enjoy the movement more.
Even the movement of going up and down stairs.

It seems that game devs now days are using real people to then map motions and facial expressions into the game...

BF4 used real people's faces put into the game engine

Yes I saw in the videos of the final hours of tomb raider with camille luttington, go and watch on youtube, quite educational.
 
Mobile - Don't really play mobile games
Console - The Last of Us (PS3)
Handheld - Don't play handheld games
PC - Outlast

The Last of Us, for me, was a perfect gaming experience if there ever was one (in my opinion). Incredible graphics, engaging story and immersive gameplay. I can't wait to see what Naughty Dog achieve on the PS4. Runner up would probably be Tomb Raider. I'm a long-time fan and am proud that Crystal Dynamics were able to bring Lara into the mainstream again.
 
Really Glad to see Tomb Raider seems to be one of the top games of the year. I've been struggling to convince friends to get it, because they are incredibly sceptical because the franchise had been damaged so much by years of crappy versions.
