Zaps New Look

MooDy

As some of you will know we have been working on a face lift for our site for the last few months and I'm happy to say that we have now gone live with it.

There are a few issues when using explorer - which should be fixed in the new year - but works well with firefox and like a dream with chrome.

Let me know what you guys think and dont forget to enter the comps

looks good :), just those "two pillars" at the very bottom that bothers me :D

update:
product search, the thumbs and rating with white onto the black background is bit glaring imho.

Very nice MooDy! I'm using Chrome though and the forward and back images are missing. Otherwise it looks good! :)

Very nice Moods! Looks flippin fantastic ;)

Only thing I would get them to look into is your banner, they have taken the older, smaller one and blown it up thus making it pixilated. It should look a bit smoother.

Other than that, very cool!!

Have also got to say...looks great! Much better than before!

As mentioned already, just the banner at the top is not sharp but otherwise awesome! :)

/gives Samson a call

LOL, I think I'm the only one in this forum that gets your humor, love it.

Its a massive improvement over the previous one, I am personally not a fan of dark website, I really like a clean and neat feel which the new one has achieved very nicely. It took a while to load the first time but after that everything loaded quickly.

Yes, seems a bit slow as well.

IE / FF / OPRAH / CHROME ?

firefox clearly is getting issues on my box. takes ±14 seconds to load for some odd reason with js enabled and about instant with js disabled. jquery ? some bad js ? i wonder...

...even ie8 lags a bit. o well thats what the profiler says

I mainly use firefox, but also tried it in chrome and it still seems to load pretty slowly.

Looks far better :)

But perhaps you should make it more obvious that ya'll are an online store and not a news site?

I'm in the UK on a 15mbps connection, and the site takes about 10 seconds to load. That's not good at all. I've also had jscript errors stalling Firefox altogether. Not to sound mean, but as a consumer, I'm just going to close the tab and go somewhere else.

And honestly, the layout isn't exactly expedient to selling products. It looks more like a gaming news site than a vendor, and the category menus are placed too low on the page. If you have to scroll down to see that the site is selling stuff, then the page has failed at its primary function - to sell stuff.

Sure, it's an improvement on the old site, but that's not saying much considering the frankly appalling presentation it had previously.

Perhaps it seems a little bland, but sites like Take2, Kalahari, Amazon, and all the other major vending sites work because they're simply presented.

Hhmm, it's a bit slow, takes more than 15 seconds to fully load.. seems heavy too.

As mentioned before, Back / Forward buttons not displaying. They work though.

I also don't generally like sites that redirect (from www.zaps.co.za) to other URL's. It's annoying... I am still a fan of having www. in front of your sitename. Anyway, just my personal / professional preference.

You are also losing a serious amount of real estate on the page with those 2 big zaps and games banners. Way too much, which you cannot afford.

Also, move your Login / Cart section up, towards the top-righthand corner... you can barely see it there where it is currently.

yep. slowness dreads me to go there.
