rAge Expo 2011 announced

15 February 2011

Tidemedia has announced that the annual rAge expo will be taking place this year from 30 September to 2 October at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg. rAge is South Africa’s biggest annual gaming and consumer electronics trade show, and is home to the country’s biggest annual LAN event, the NAG LAN, which last year attracted over 2000 gamers.

“We are happy to report an attendance growth of 8% from 2009 with a total of 20,316 visitors at the 2010 rAge expo. Additionally 2,080 NAG LAN tickets sold out in 36 hours. This year we expect to top 23,000 visitors with the LAN increasing in size yet again. The psychosocial demographic of our visitors has also exploded in recent years, from our earliest rAge events visited primarily by your characteristic gamer, we now see many more families and consumers from all age brackets and LSM categories. Gaming is now truly for everyone,” explains Michael James, Senior Project Manager for rAge.

rAge gives gamers a chance to try out unreleased games from international publishers who visit SA from all over the world to promote their games. In previous years gamers have been able to get hands on time with the likes of Uncharted 2 and Borderlands months before they came out.

Ticket prices and additional information will be revealed in the coming months.
