Old school CoD fan here. Call of Duty is dying and needs drastical changes as soon as possible. Celebrities will not change anything.
Yes, Call of Duty franchise can be revived. Make the new game more mature, realistic, complex and less violent (enormous amounts of violence don’t make video games mature). Make sure it’s finished and bugs/errors are fixed. Developers should not be rushed. Content plans are a must. Bring back the Second World war and old multiplayer maps (Carentan, Foy, Harbor, Pavlov, Rocket, Toujane). Let us play as Germans, Finns, Italians and French of the French State (Vichy France) in the singleplayer and on dedicated servers in the multiplayer (plus LAN support). Find a talented scenarist who can write a decent story without Hollywood cliches and political correctness. Focus on gameplay and realism instead of graphics. Use appropriate music (no rap/rock/electronic/indie garbage) and simple graphical user interface (like in the very first game, but more conservative) instead of “modern” flashy ugliness. Make intro, credits, cutscenes and in-game videos skippable. Improve hit detection. Promote the purchase of the game (announce that you will release free content when X million copies of the game are sold). Reduce system requirements. Remove regional lockout, DRM, mandatory Steam requirement, modding support (most mods are hacks and unoriginal junk anyway), health regeneration, quick time events and zombie/survival modes. Do not use “modern” distorted audio effects, flashy visual effects, movie/video game references and Affirmative Action characters. The new game should not be featured in any “esports competitions” (playing video games is not a sport). Avoid paid content, microtransactions, pre-order bonuses, special game editions and anachronistic/unrealistic things (reflex sights in 1940s, Thompson M1A1 submachine guns with drum magazines).
