Valve boss reveals his Steam username and password

7 March 2011

Last week Valve announced a new layer of protection for Steam users called Steam Guard. Steam Guard will effectively lock your Steam account’s more sensitive account management options to a single PC.

Steam Guard will be an optional feature, so users will be able to continue using Steam in its current format.

However, to show just how secure the new system is, Valve big-cheese Gabe Newel has revealed his own Steam login details to the world. In doing so, he illustrates how even with his username and password, no one get into his Steam account from another PC.

We are all for better protection for end-users, but Valve has yet to reveal how the system will respond to things like hardware upgrades, or hard drive crashes etc. More is expected in the coming weeks, but for now, we are glad it is an optional measure.
