The one bad thing every reviewer is saying about the PS4 Slim

27 September 2016

There’s one word that keeps popping up in every review of the PlayStation 4 Slim we’ve read – “wait”.

That’s quite literally the headline of Timothy J. Seppala’s Engadget review in which his biggest sticking point is that “with a more powerful PS4 arriving soon, you’re better off upgrading to that instead”.

That’s not to say there is anything wrong with the console itself, Digital Trends’ Mike Epstein recognised that this is the “premier” dedicated gaming platform and the best PS4 yet.

But…..

“The Slim is sitting in the shadow of a more powerful version of the PS4, which hits stores next month and has a more powerful graphics card”.

In fact we don’t think we’ve ever seen a hardware release where reviewers have consistently come out with the same message.

    • I expect it will be a minimum of a year before studios put out content that will take advantage of the PS4’s capabilities, and I bet there’ll be a premium for them too.
    • I don’t own a 4K TV and am in no rush to go out and get one.
    • The games out now won’t look or play any better on the PS4
