Sony’s PlayStation VR headset blocks the PS4 Pro from using HDR

The launch of the PS VR and the PS4 Pro is just around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited.

The Pro will finally bring 4K gaming to console gamers around the world, while PS VR will be the first Virtual Reality headset to bring VR to the mainstream.

Some of this excitement was quelled a bit however, as we recently learned you won’t be able to use both the PS VR at the same time as the PS4’s Pro’s HDR .

“This is because the processing box that is needed to run the PSVR doesn’t have HDR support.”

As a result you will need to unplug the PSVR device if you want to use HDR with your PS4 Pro,” reports Valuewalk.

That means that two of Sony’s biggest hardware releases this generation technically aren’t fully compatible with one another.

It’s not the end of the world, as all you need to do if you want to use HDR with the PS4 is remove the PSVR box and plug the console directly into your TV.

Still, it seems like an oversight considering the two pieces of hardware are releasing at virtually the same time.
