Remember David Gaider? He’s the BioWare writer who took on a complaint about gay romances in Dragon Age 2, and made the other guy look a complete fool. Responding to an allegation that the game “neglects the straight male gamer”, Gaider pointed out that, actually, the romance options are “for everyone”.
Gaider’s honorary glitter-plated medal of Totally Fabulous Service is apparently not enough for one angry gay gamer, however, who has accused the writer of writing “the worst stereotype homosexual characters” in a petition calling for Gaider’s dismissal.
“As a homosexual playing Dragon Age 2, I’ve witnessed the worst stereotype homosexual characters in this game,” he writes. “If you refused to make your moves on a gay character then you are received [sic] rivalry points for not wanting to be gay for the character.”
Newsflash: nobody likes being rejected. Even game characters. Especially Anders.
“The person that wrote this game should be fired for stereotyping homosexuals in such a disrespectful way, as well as creating the worst writing in characters, plot and everything else in DA2,” fumes the drama queen, perhaps inadvertently lapsing into his real problem with the game – that it’s rubbish.
Some 200 people have signed the petition already.
