Augmented reality game developer KennyW has created a YouTube video showing off an AR Portal demo for Microsoft’s HoloLens.

The demo does not feature any puzzles to solve, but players can use a rendered Portal Device to create portals on real-world surfaces.

KennyW used the Unity engine to handle the portal physics, and the collision detection is possible due to the HoloLens’s mapping of the wearer’s surroundings.

While players cannot pass through portals, AR objects such as the Companion Cube function the same as they do in the original game – colliding with real-world surfaces.

A video of the demo is posted below.
