Denuvo-protected games are now being cracked within hours of release, reported Ars Technica.

The amount of time the DRM software has been able to protect games has steadily decreased, to the point where cracked copies of games are available for download within days of launch.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole was the latest title to have its copy protection broken in less than 24 hours. It joins Middle Earth: Shadow of War and FIFA 18.

In the case of FIFA, cracks were released on launch day.

In recent months, crackers took 4-9 days to break the Denuvo DRM on games like Sonic Mania, Tekken 7, and Prey.

According to the report, those extra days make the difference for publishers – with a large portion of sales in the first days of availability.
