Best of 2021 Steam

With more than 50,000 games on Steam, it is an excellent achievement for any title to make it into the website’s “Best of” rankings.

These are the 12 highest-grossing games of 2021 according to Steam’s revenue bracket.

Dead by Daylight

A multiplayer game developed by Behaviour Interactive that pits four players against a player-controlled monster and features gripping and suspenseful gameplay.

Destiny 2

The sequel to Bungie’s much-acclaimed Destiny, Destiny 2, offers MMO open-world elements, a vast number of unlockable weaponry, dungeons, PVP game modes and a dozen other features that all serve to entrench Destiny 2 as one of the most significant MMO shooters currently available.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is unsurprisingly in the top bracket for Revenue on Steam just as it was in 2018, 2019 and 2020. This no doubt due to its massive roster of heroes and tactical gameplay.

Grand Theft Auto 5

Rockstar’s hit crime game, with its massive open world, excellent story and exciting gameplay, has consistently appeared in the Best of top bracket for the last three years, and 2021 is no different.

Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042 has had a poor reception from fans (its Steam rating is Mostly Negative) but, despite this, managed to make it into the top bracket of 2021.

Valheim

With its expansive world, satisfying crafting system and solid combat, Iron Gate AB’s Valheim’s presence in the top bracket is well earned.

PUBG: Battlegrounds

The ‘original battle royale experience’ as stated on the games Steam page, PUBG: Battlegrounds’ position in the top bracket is hardly surprising given the genre’s popularity.

New World

In September, Amazon Games MMORPG was released to great fanfare and has maintained its position on the top 50 highest concurrent played games list on Steam.

Apex Legends

Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale shooter features vibrant colours, exciting gameplay and an ever-expanding roster of playable heroes.

Naraka: Bladepoint

Developed by 24 Entertainment, Naraka Bladepoint is a 60 player battle royale game centred around martial arts and heroes possessing epic abilities. Its presence in the top bracket is impressive, considering it was only released in August 2021.

Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has been a fixture of the highest grossing games list for the last few years, much like Dota 2, and its appearance in 2021 should come as no shock.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Another of the expected titles for this list,  CS:GO has maintained a consistent presence in the top bracket since 2015.

Given its current concurrent player count of over 500,000, this is unlikely to change for several years to come.
