The Batman has already set a new Warner Bros record for making $5.3 million (R80.7 million) over only two days after its international release.

The film is already the highest-grossing Batman movie in several markets, like Sweden and Indonesia, overtaking The Dark Knight Rises.

The Batman is also Warner Bros’ biggest post-pandemic film release, despite only being available in eight markets.

The movie will be releasing in 47 additional markets today, of which the US is one, and 19 more on Friday.

This is why the movie is projected to bring in an additional $245 million (R3.73 billion) over the weekend.

The Batman is a franchise reboot and depicts Batman in his early years, hunting down a ruthless serial killer known as The Riddler.

The movie is directed by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Let Me In) and stars Robert Pattinson (Twilight, The Devil All the Time) in the lead role.

The Batman has received critical acclaim, with an 85% critic rating and a 93% audience score on the review-aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.
