Diablo IV gameplay reveal – Over 150 dungeons on the way

31 March 2022

Blizzard posted a quarterly update for Diablo IV, reminding us that it is still in development as it delivered several minutes of gameplay and showcased a handful of its 150+ dungeons.

Although some aspects will be changed by the time Diablo IV is released to the public, the showcase videos are already quite an effective mood-setter.

‘Forgotten Places of the World,’ for example, was one of the dungeons showcased and it introduced to us a dark, blood-soaked dungeon with slick tentacles thrashing in the air. It looks fantastically horrific.

“Dungeons are still that randomized content that you know and love from previous Diablo titles,” said the associate art director Brian Fletcher.

“However, we added new and exciting features that allow us to make even more dungeons across the world of Sanctuary than ever before.”

“To support over 150+ dungeons, we’ve had to shift the way we make environment art so that it’s flexible enough to be used in multiple locations and not just in a single dungeon,” added Fletcher.

Additionally, while Diablo III was criticized for its colourful aesthetic, Diablo IV will be going back to its roots, as the gameplay features dungeons and arid regions that look and feel more like the first two games.
