Discord has released a party mode feature to celebrate the app’s seventh anniversary.
This visual and audio feature adds several entertaining effects to the app’s functions, such as confetti, a combo counter for typing, and even a cheering crowd with screen shaking.
It is a minor visual feature intended to be a bit of fun rather than a dedicated new function for the app.
However, this new feature is quite taxing on the CPU.
Users have reported that CPU usage sky-rockets to levels above 20% usage when the function is turned on.
This is problematic as Discord is ideally meant to run in the background, consuming few resources and allowing your PC to dedicate its processing power to your game.
As a result, having this feature turned on when gaming is not recommended.
However, the feature is turned off by default and easily switched on and off, so you only have to worry about its CPU drain if you’re keen on the idea.
