MSI showcased its all-new QD-OLED monitor during the Computex 2022 conference that took place in Taiwan last week.
The MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED curved gaming monitor will rival Dell’s Alienware AW3423DW and the Samsung Odyssey G8QNB.
Dell announced the launch of its flagship Alienware AW3423DW ultra-wide gaming monitor in March 2022.
The Alienware screen got favourable reviews and was commended on its high refresh rate, fast response time and visual quality — and now, MSI aims to steal Dell’s crown.
The Alienware, MSI, and Samsung monitor all use the same Samsung QD-OLED panel, which offers all of the benefits of standard OLEDs, such as perfect blacks.
However, it also provides better quality colours and higher brightness than standard OLEDs, which improves efficiency and reduces the chance of burn-in.
What sets the MSI screen apart from its QD-OLED competitors is MSI’s True Colour technology and exclusive Premium Colour Mode.
MSI reports that this will ensure users get a wide colour scale, including 99.3% DCI-P3, 97.8% Adobe RGB, and 139.1% sRGB coverage.
The monitor will also feature a near-instant response time of 0.1ms GtG and a 175Hz refresh rate.
MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED specifications
The MSI MEG 342C screen is 34 inches in size with a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio, a UWQHD (3440 x 1440) resolution, and a 1800R curvature that will fit most modern game titles.
Alongside the monitor’s 0.1ms response time and 175Hz refresh rate, it also offers 1,000 nits of peak brightness, FreeSync Premium Pro, and VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification.
No information has been given regarding connectivity options; however, MSI is likely to provide this information in the coming weeks.
Additional Features
The MEG 342C QD-OLED is part of MSI’s high-end MEG series and therefore supports MSI Gaming Intelligence.
MSI’s new flagship monitor will also have a built-in smart processor which can be remote-controlled by a smartphone and will feature Sound Tune AI noise-cancelling software.
Additionally, the MEG 342C QD-OLED will feature MSI’s new HMI 2.0 (Human Machine Interface) technology.
This feature syncs the functions of the personal PC and gaming monitor into one “gaming dial” that can be directly controlled through your gaming desktop.
This means that gamers only need to select the game they want to play, and the smart processor will automatically align the settings of the gaming monitor and the gaming desktop to optimize the system and display with one click.
The latest HMI2.0 technology will be the default function on the next-gen MEG AEGIS Ti5.
Other notable features available on this new monitor include Smart Crosshair, an ambient light sensor, PBP/PIP support, and a built-in KVM function.
The pricing and availability of the MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED monitor are still unknown.
