In its latest financial presentation last week, Sony revealed that title releases for PS4 will be gone by 2025.
PS4 games will still be purchasable, but Sony will stop developing new games that are supported on this platform.
The Company added that it will promote the PS5 as its primary hardware and half of its gaming revenue will stem from PS5, while PC and mobile sales will account for the rest of its income.
Sony’s plans to discontinue new title releases on PS4 shouldn’t be a surprise, as 2025 would mark the twelfth-year anniversary since the PS4’s release in 2013.
For now, the Company is still manufacturing and releasing games for the PS4 — including this year’s biggest PlayStation title, God of War: Ragnarök.
Sony will probably make a bigger announcement related to the end of the PS4’s lifecycle closer to 2025, so there is no concern for those who use the console just yet.
