We’re definitely seeing a bit of a lull in game releases at the moment, which is fine because most publishers are getting ready to bring out the big guns over the next few months, and we’ve got plenty to catch up on thanks to the recent Steam Summer Sale.
However, if you do feel inclined to buy something new this week, then the only noteworthy release really worth a look is Call of Juarez: The Cartel. The last game in the series was particularly good, although this latest release moves the action from the Wild West to a more contempory LA gang-land setting.
Sadly, reviews so far have been mediocre, and the game holds a Metacritic score of 54 currently. Here are some of the first published reviews:

Call of Juarez: The Cartel, isn’t a very good game when you get to the basics. Its low production values and simple gameplay drag the experience down, while an erratic pace to the storyline makes it worse. Read more
